Serbian scholars call for protection of UOC sanctuaries and rights of believers

On September 21, 2023, a press conference will be held in Belgrade on the protection of the sanctuaries and the rights of believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The event will be attended by Serbian scholars of international renown – Milos Kovic, Darko Jogo, Slobodan Antonic and Zoran Kindzic. Pravblog writes that.

“The topics of increasing persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the results of the implementation of the initiative of the appeal of Serbian intellectuals in defense of the UOC will be considered. It is also expected to discuss the development of inter-Orthodox relations after the illegal legalization of Ukrainian schismatic structures,” the conference organizers said.

It is known that back in June, 109 Serbian scientists and prominent intellectuals signed a collective appeal to Kiev and the international community to stop persecution of the UOC. Among them were the world-famous director Emir Kusturica, academicians Danilo Basta, Svetislav Bozic, Jovan Delic, Slavenko Terzic, Slobodan Remetich and others.
