Aleksey Arestovich gave an interview to rus.nra.lv, in which, in particular, he answered the question of how he sees a canonically acceptable way out for the UOC from the crisis of relations with the state.
“As I see the decision. The first is a broad council, a discussion with the involvement of all churches. The Council of Churches, for example. The state agreement signed by all churches and confessions on the situation of the UOC-MP in Ukraine. And there should be a decision jointly adopted by the clergy and the state, a pact on how to get out of the crisis,” Arestovich said.
He added that it is possible to invite not only representatives of all churches, but also “the best specialists in church reforms in the world, historians, and at least two years to deliberate, but to make a decision.”
“The very fact that this discussion has begun will greatly ease the tension in society,” Aleksei Arestovich is sure.
