The press service of the OCU reported that on Thursday, July 27, 2023, “in the thousand-year-old shrine of the Orthodox Church – the Cathedral of St. Sophia of Kiev, the Local Council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine will be held.” This is stated on the website of the OCU.
It is noteworthy that the “council” will be held on the day of a possible vote in the Verkhovna Rada for a bill to ban the UOC.
“On the agenda of the Council: Report of the Primate of His Beatitude Metropolitan Epifaniy on the life of the OCU since the previous Council (2018), approval of the decision of the Council of Bishops on the transition to the New Julian calendar from September 1, 2023 and other decisions,” the message says.
It is noted that “the approach to the press of the representative of the OCU will take place approximately at 13:00 or later in the Metropolitan House.” This means that, most likely, the event will not be long, and decisions may already be prepared in advance.
