Dukonsky Monastery burned in the Carpathians, closed by the authorities and captured by the OCU

In the Verkhovyna district of the Ivano-Frankivsk region on Friday evening, July 21, the wooden Holy Trinity Dukonsky Monastery, closed by the authorities and captured by the OCU in June 2022, caught fire. This is reported by the publication zaxid.net.

 

As the rescuers noted, the monastery is located high in the mountains, where access is much more difficult. Upon arrival, they found that the wooden building of the monastery was completely engulfed in fire, the fire area was 120 square meters.

 

Rescuers saved nearby outbuildings and the bell tower from fire. No one was injured in the fire, the cause of the fire and the damage it caused are being established.

 

The male Holy Trinity Dukon Monastery is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, on Malaya Dukon. The nearest settlement Probiynovka is 12 km away.

 

As we previously reported, representatives of the OCU seized the Holy Trinity Dukonsky Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which was forcibly closed by the authorities in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. On June 12, 2022, they entered the premises of the UOC monastery for the first time.
