Deputy of the Volyn Regional Council, assistant to People’s Deputy Igor Guz Andriy Bokoch, in an interview on the Aktualno TV program, expressed his vision of resolving the issue of the transition of the UOC communities to the OCU.
He acknowledged that the issue of the transition of churches from the UOC to the OCU “is really complicated and everything is not as easy as we would like.” However, in his opinion, the decision to change the church jurisdiction should be taken by the community.
“The People’s Deputy’s team joins the processes of church transition only where there are already people who are doing this, and we only help them. Mostly legal, organizational or consulting. We do not come to the village to start this whole process ourselves. Basically, people do not know how to formalize everything legally, and we help with this,” he said.
The deputy also added that he did not understand the position of the leadership of the Zimnovskaya community, which had stepped aside from making an important decision to ban the activities of the UOC on the territory of the village council, and stressed that both he personally and the Guz team keep this issue under control and “will not let go on the brakes.” He said that soon this issue will be raised again at an extraordinary session. According to the deputy of the regional council, this time he will be accepted.
“I think that the next session will be called soon. Winter is our Ukrainian shrine. And it is not true that Moscow priests rule there to this day. We will do everything possible so that the land is seized and transferred to the OCU,” Bokoch said.
