On May 22, 2023, the Supreme Court opened proceedings on the claim of Metropolitan Pavel of Vyshgorod against the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The lawyer of the bishop, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, announced this on his Telegram channel.
The lawyer noted that the lawsuit refers to the recognition as illegal and the cancellation of two decrees of President Zelensky on personal sanctions against Metropolitan Pavel. We are talking about decrees No. 820/2022 of December 1, 2022 and No. 43/2023 of January 24, 2023.
The Court appointed the consideration of the case on June 19, 2023.
“The petition of the plaintiff was also granted and the Court demanded all the evidence on the basis of which the appealed decisions were made,” added the lawyer of the hierarch of the UOC.
