Members of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy recommend terminating the lease agreement for the Pochaev Assumption Lavra with the UOC

At a meeting on April 7, 2023, members of the Committee on Humanitarian and Information Policy and invited experts discussed the draft Resolution on the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the termination of the lease agreement for the Pochaev Assumption Lavra buildings with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (registration No. 9179). This is stated on the official web portal of the Parliament.

“In order to protect the national space, prevent manifestations of information propaganda by representatives of the UOC, as well as restore legality and historical justice, the draft Resolution proposes to apply to the Government for an immediate verification of compliance with the terms of the agreement on the use of the Pochaev Holy Dormition Lavra, the complex of buildings of the Pochaev Lavra and other state property” , noted in the article.

This draft resolution was presented by People’s Deputy N. Pipa. According to the Committee, the title of the Resolution should be as follows: “On the appeal of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the termination of the agreement with the Pochaev Holy Dormition Lavra on the free use of the Pochaev Lavra complex of buildings.”

Also at the meeting, a recommendation was made to adopt the basis of the draft Law on the procedure for the further use of museum collections in the event of reorganization of museums (No. 9129).
