Metropolitan Meletiy sues to stop the Presidential Decree

Metropolitan of Chernivtsi and Bukovina Meletiy decided to sue to stop the Decree No. 898 of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. This was reported by the Commander-in-Chief with reference to the data of the state portal “Judicial Power of Ukraine”.

“On January 17, the Supreme Court received an application to secure a claim from a clergyman. In it, he asks to stop the Decree of the President of Ukraine No. 898 of December 28, 2022. This document was not officially published on the website of the head of state. However, the text of the Decree was leaked to the media,” the publication reports.

The Decree refers to the suspension of Ukrainian citizenship of 13 representatives of the UOC. Among them is Metropolitan Meletiy.

It is also reported that the hierarch of the UOC has not yet sent the statement of claim to the court.
