Archpriest Vyacheslav Yakymenko, Deputy Head of the Synodal Military Department of the UOC, in an interview with the Pershiy Kozats’kiy, spoke about the importance of the activities of chaplains at the front.
“It’s definitely hard at the front, but the delivery of humanitarian aid is a secondary task for chaplains, and spiritual support comes first, because there are no atheists in the trenches,” Father Vyacheslav said.
According to the priest, it is joint prayer, pastoral instruction – that’s what the soldiers are waiting for. But, of course, they also need financial support, so the UOC chaplains never go to the front empty-handed.
