The Moscow Patriarchate did not receive requests for autocephaly from the Latvian Orthodox Church

The Russian Orthodox Church stated that no petitions for granting autocephaly (independence) from the Latvian Orthodox Church had been received in Moscow. This was reported on the website interfax.ru.

Yes, we have information about the holding of the Council of the LOC. However, I do not yet know anything about the receipt of any official appeals in Moscow, ”said Archpriest Nikolai Balashov, adviser to Patriarch Kirill, to Interfax on Friday, October 21.

Earlier, the Latvian media reported that on the eve of the Church of All Saints in Riga, a Council of the LOC was held, the participants of which almost unanimously adopted an appeal to Patriarch Kirill on granting the LOC the status of an autocephalous church.
