On June 14, the Lviv Regional Council adopted a statement calling on the state to legally ban the activities of the UOC. The statement was published on the website of the regional council.
“We, the deputies of the Lviv Regional Council, realizing our responsibility to the voters of the Lviv region, consider the continued existence and activities of the UOC-MP in Ukraine in general and in the Lviv region in particular unacceptable.
Guided by the provisions of the Constitution of Ukraine, the laws of Ukraine <…>, taking into account the anti-Ukrainian and anti-state position of religious organizations (associations) of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, the absence of a position condemning Russian aggression in Ukraine <…>, we call on the state to legally prohibit the activities of the Ukrainian Orthodox church as a structural subdivision of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC),” the statement reads.
