The head of the UOC-KP published an “Appeal to the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Onuphry of Kiev and All Ukraine, the episcopate, clergy and laity.”

“In a difficult time for the Ukrainian people, when perfidious Russia has begun and is waging a terrible and insidious war against Ukraine, and the leadership of the Russian Orthodox Church contributes to this madness, when the best sons and daughters of Ukraine die, standing up for their native Motherland, as the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kiev Patriarchy, I suggest that you unite into a single local autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which will serve exclusively the interests of the Ukrainian people.

Today, everyone must decide on whose side he is: good or evil, right or wrong, Abel or Cain. Get away from Moscow and make your choice for the sake of Christ and this will help defeat the aggressor, stop the deadly war, unite all Ukrainians, bring peace to Ukraine, preserve its integrity and independence. <…>

I ask you to make this historic and decisive choice towards truth and Ukraine,” the appeal says.
