In the Greek Church, among the reasons for the de-Christianization of Europe, they named the recognition of the OCU

The Department of Heresies and Religions of the Metropolis of Piraeus of the Greek Orthodox Church named the legalization of the schism in Ukrainian Orthodoxy among the reasons for the crisis of Christianity in Europe. The corresponding statement was published on February 7, 2022, Pravlife writes.

In the list of de-Christianization factors, the authors of the study directly point to the recognition by the majority of Greek bishops of “Ukrainian autocephaly”, that is, “the acceptance that the schismatic formation of Epiphanius, deposed, cursed and criminal, with a small flock, represents the official Autocephalous Church of Ukraine.”

“This is another deep wound in the body of our Local Church, which we mentioned in our previous announcements,” the Metropolis of Piraeus notes. – We ask ourselves: how can the blessing of God, on which every spiritual fruit depends, come after such serious falls of ours? And how to avoid the de-Christianization of the Church after such falls?”

Among the crisis phenomena of Western Christianity that affect the Orthodox in Greece, the authors of the study named the colonization of Europe by migrants of other faiths, a decrease in the number of believers, putting up for sale Christian churches, sexual scandals in the Catholic hierarchy, tolerance for sexual deviations, female priesthood and others. Among the most significant are the frivolous attitude of the Greek hierarchs to the dangers of ecumenism and the delusions of the Cretan Council of 2016.

The authors of the study suggest that clerics and laity be saved from “catastrophic evil” through repentance and necessary actions. Namely, to convene a Local Council as soon as possible, which would overthrow the errors of ecumenism and certain “malicious” decisions of the Crete Council, and also condemn the legalization of the schism in Ukrainian Orthodoxy by the Church of Greece.

“Let our Local Church conciliarly condemn the invalid Ukrainian autocephaly so as not to become an accomplice of the schism,” the EOC Metropolia of Piraeus said in a statement.
