The community of the closed temple in Khotyn held a prayer standing under the mayor’s office

The prayer standing of the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took place near the mayor’s office of the city of Khotyn, Chernivtsi region on February 7, 2022. The clergy and laity demanded from the authorities to extend the lease agreement with the religious community of the church of the Holy Prince Alexander Nevsky, located on the territory of the Khotyn Fortress State Historical and Architectural Reserve, Pravlife writes.

Archpriest Anatoly Mandryuk, Dean of the Khotyn Church District, Archpriest Pavel Korytnik, Rector of the Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, and the clergy of the Khotyn Deanery took part in the prayer stand.

“Today we met with local authorities, they listened to us and promised that all issues would be resolved within a day. We ask God to help us. We will pray that everything happens as we were promised,” said Archpriest Anatoly Mandryuk.

The city leadership received documents for the continuation of the agreement on the free use of the church of St. Alexander Nevsky for 2022.

“We hope that the city authorities will hear us and contribute to resolving this issue. We wish to continue to pray in the Alexander Nevsky Church, to keep the church in proper condition, as we have kept it for 30 years,” said the rector of the church, Archpriest Pavel Korytnik.

Recall that in early February, the director of the “Khotin fortress” E.V. Buynovskaya closed the temple of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the name of the holy noble prince Alexander Nevsky, located on the territory of the reserve. The decision was made at the request of a group of nationalists, supporters of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine”.
