The hierarch of the Church of Alexandria urged to convene the Council of Primates on the “Ukrainian issue”

Metropolitan Seraphim (Kikkotis) of Zimbabwe called for a Council of Primates to be assembled to resolve the “Ukrainian issue,” writes Romfeya.

Metropolitan Seraphim stressed that “today in Ukraine there is an Autonomous Church headed by Metropolitan Onufry, which is recognized by ten Local Orthodox Churches, an autocephalous Church headed by Epiphanius, which is recognized by four Churches, and the so-called Kiev Patriarchate, which, apart from groups of Old Calendarists, does not recognized by none of the Local Orthodox Churches.

He writes that “even the primates of the Churches that supported the autocephaly of Ukraine do not agree with such tactics.”

Metropolitan Seraphim suggested creating an Inter-Orthodox Commission that could “fix the positions of the Local Orthodox Churches on the issues raised that divide us.”

The commission should include Archbishop Anastassy of Albania, Metropolitan John (Zizioulas) of Pergamon, Metropolitan Demetrius (Kommatas) of Prinkiponis, Metropolitan Kallistos (Ware), Metropolitan Sergius (Kikkotis) of the Alexandrian Patriarchate, Archbishop-Metropolitan Niphon (Miheytse) of Targovishte, and representative of the Patriarch of Moscow. In addition, hierarchs of other Churches may also participate in the commission.
