On January 16, 2022, the German religious scholar Nikolai Mitrokhin conducted a study of the attendance of services distributed in the neighboring mountains of Kiev in the churches of the canonical UOC and schismatics – the OCU and the UOC-KP, from 9.40 (Kiev-Pechersk Lavra) to 12.20 (Vladimirskaya Gorka).

“The study was started very late, so the early liturgies in the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (at least 4) were completely missed.

In total, the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra (attendance at the liturgy from 9.45 to 10.30) is at least 1200 people (of which at least 900 are in the Refectory Church, with active dynamics up to 1000 are possible in the service) and more than 220 in the other three. Temples are filled to 50 (Refectory) -110% (Sergius of Radonezh). Choirs were not considered anywhere. The OCU in St. Fedosievsky Monastery opposite the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra – 45 people (the temple is 20% full).

Andreevsky Church – the courtyard of the Patriarchate of Constantinople – 30 people (according to the guards, the service ended at 10.) A total of four autocephalous churches – up to 360 were recorded, up to 520 possible in the service, taking into account the active dynamics.The occupancy is from 15 (Malaya Sofia, Andreevsky) to 80% (the parish of the UOC-KP) Mikhailovsky – the occupancy is about 40% The UOC – the parish of the Church of the Tithes – up to 40 people (60%).

The total ratio is the UOC (1240 (observed), 1350-1400 taking into account the dynamics, 2000=2200 taking into account missed morning services in other churches according to conservative estimates, up to 2500 according to optimistic ones). Average occupancy 75-80%. OCU and other autocephalous churches (5 in total) – up to 405 recorded, up to 580 in dynamics according to a conservative estimate, up to 620 according to an optimistic one. The average occupancy is 30%,” the religious scholar writes.
