Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that the Antiochian Orthodox Church will remain united, the scenarios of Ukraine are not applicable to it. Dmitry Sablin, coordinator of the group for interaction between the State Duma and the Syrian parliament, spoke about this, Interfax writes.
“Assad said that the Church of Antioch will remain united, and the leadership of Syria will support it in every possible way,” Sablin said.
According to Sablin, Assad noted that, just as it is done in Ukraine, work is being carried out in order to split the Antioch Orthodox Church. The head of state expressed respect for the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and Patriarch of Antioch and the whole East John X, noted their wisdom and concern for the fate of the Churches entrusted to them.
