Metropolitan Nektarios of Kerkyra conveyed to His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry the fraternal assurance of prayerful support for each other in this difficult time for the whole world and for the Orthodox Church. The hierarch of the Greek Orthodox Church said this during a meeting with Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv, the press service of the Cherkasy diocese reported.
The meeting was also attended by the vicar of the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC, Bishop Anthony.
It is noted that during the pilgrimage to one of the most revered saints of the Orthodox world – St. Saint Spyridon, Bishop of Trimythous in Corfu (Greece), Metropolitan Theodosius of Cherkasy and Kaniv met with Metropolitan of Corfu, Paxoi and the Diapontian Islands, Nektarius, at which the hierarchs discussed a difficult situation in Orthodoxy and the ways for leaving it in line with the canonical rules and norms of the Holy Orthodox Church.
During the communication, Metropolitan Theodosius conveyed to Lord Nektarios friendly congratulations and words of best wishes from His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, and Metropolitan Nektarios, in turn, conveyed to the Primate of the UOC a fraternal assurance of prayerful support for each other in this difficult for the whole world and for the Orthodox Church time. At the end of the meeting, the hierarchs exchanged memorable gifts.
Earlier, the bishops celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Spyridon, at his incorruptible miraculous relics. Priests and numerous pilgrims from Ukraine prayed together with the hierarchs.
