The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak met with the Bishop of the Orthodox Church of Constantinople, Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon. This was reported on May 27, 2021 on the website of the head of state.
Andriy Yermak noted that today in Ukraine all confessions feel free and independent: “Volodymyr Zelenskyy is a President who does not use the church for political purposes.”
Also at the meeting with Yermak was the speaker of the OCU “Archbishop” Yevstratiy Zorya.
The head of the Office of the Head of State noted that the war in Donbass has been going on in Ukraine for the eighth year, and almost every day the state leadership, unfortunately, receives data on the wounded and killed. Therefore, the main priority of President Volodymyr Zelensky and his team remains the end of the war and the return of the temporarily occupied territories and people.
Andriy Yermak conveyed gratitude to Patriarch Bartholomew and the Ecumenical Patriarchate for supporting Ukraine, especially in these difficult times, stressing that the whole country is looking forward to the visit of Patriarch Bartholomew and his participation in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence.
Andriy Yermak assured that the state will do everything to ensure that the visit of the Ecumenical Patriarch to Ukraine is held at the highest level. In his turn, Metropolitan Emmanuel expressed confidence that his expected visit to Ukraine in August will be prepared and will be carried out in the best possible way.
