In her recent interview with Glavkom, the head of the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience, Olena Bogdan, made a very significant remark and expressed thoughts that must be listened to by those Ukrainian politicians who are trying to “hyip” on the topic of the Church. It is about the so-called “law on the renaming of the Church.” Bishop Baryshevsky Viktor (Kotsaba) wrote about this.
“It’s very good that, finally, there were Ukrainian officials who understand that“ the requirement for a name is a problematic norm from the point of view of international law, because Ukraine has a number of international legal obligations. ”
Indeed, Ukraine not only has these legal obligations, but must comply with them. And the “law on renaming” takes our country not only beyond the framework of international law, but also beyond the framework of common sense, which, in turn, can lead to very sad consequences.
Once again, we want to call on our officials to abolish this “law” and to a more balanced approach towards the Church, which is separated from the state by the Constitution. It is a pity that we have to remind of this again,” writes Bishop Victor.
