On Thursday, April 29, 2021, a draft Law on the Military Chaplaincy Service (reg. No. 4626) is scheduled for consideration, which may be deprived of the pastoral care of servicemen – believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
The authors of the legislative initiative were the deputies of the Golos, Eurpoean Solidarity and Servant of the People factions. When developing the bill, representatives of various confessions were invited, except for representatives of the UOC.
Religious experts draw attention to the fact that this draft law is discriminatory against military personnel – believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, who may be deprived of pastoral care by the clergy of their Church.
