The ROC said that Zelensky’s readiness to discuss the rights of the UOC is encouraging

The Russian Orthodox Church welcomes the readiness of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the problems of the parishioners of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, but considers them to be a matter of Ukraine’s internal policy, which does not lie in the plane of the presidential dialogue. This was announced to TASS on Vladimir Legoyda, chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and the Media of the Moscow Patriarchate.

“The readiness of President Zelensky to discuss them [the oppression of the rights of the parishioners of the UOC] can only be welcomed, but it seems that they do not lie in the plane of his dialogue with the President of the Russian Federation. This is a question of Ukraine’s internal policy, the attitude of the Ukrainian authorities to the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church,” he said.

The agenda related to the infringement and oppression of the canonical church and believers in Ukraine certainly exists, the head of the Synodal Department noted.
