We are tormented by the problem of the situation in Ukraine. And we cannot predict whether such a problem will arise somewhere else, said Archbishop of Ohrid, Metropolitan John of Skopia (Vranishkovsky) in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“I take very hard on all the events that are taking place now around the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. First of all, because, even when I was in schism, I always thought about the unity of the Church.
We are tormented by the problem of the situation in Ukraine. And we cannot predict if such a problem will arise elsewhere. This is not a problem of the status of this or that bishop, that is, what place he will take, but a dogmatic problem that obliges us to take the right position,” said Metropolitan John.
“I would like to wish that the Orthodox of Ukraine perceive the current situation as a kind of test. I think that after this period of testing in the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, a better period will come. As St. Athanasius the Great said many centuries ago, this is a small cloud, it will soon pass,” – he concluded.
