On March 7, 2021, representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took part in the episcopal consecration of Bishop Nikifor of Botosani, vicar bishop of the Iasi Metropolis of the Romanian Orthodox Church, at the Cathedral of the city of Iasi in Romania. This was reported by the Information and Education Department of the UOC.
The consecration was headed by Metropolitan Theophanes of Yassk, co-served by eight bishops.
The priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Archpriest Dimitri Popescu, presented memorial signs from the Administrator of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary.
The priest told the bishops present about the real situation in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, about how churches are being seized, the faithful children of the canonical Church are being persecuted.
The hierarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church wished steadfastness in faith to the clergy and believers of the UOC and assured them of prayer support in this difficult time.
