The UOC speaker explained why believers’ appeals to authorities are needed

The deputy head of the Department for external church relations of the UOC Archpriest Mykolay Danylevych stated in his Telegram that, despite the officials’ ignorance of the believers of the UOC, their appeals will not go unnoticed: the authorities, seeing the scale of the problem in terms of the number of signatures under the appeals, “will still understand something.”

“The parishes of our Church write letters to the President, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada and the Prime Minister in defense of their rights and against renaming the UOC. Answers begin to arrive. In fact, it`s evasion. And this is understandable and expected. But, dear parishioners of the UOC, do not be discouraged. This is what we were expected. After all, after this or that high-ranking official signs the same answer 12,500 times (to each parish of the UOC), and sees how many real signatures are under each of these letters, he will still understand something. And in the state itself, in the administrative apparatus, everyone also sees this. They see the scale, they see the concern of believers, which will not pass without a trace,” wrote Fr. Mykolay.
