Community of the UOC in the village Perevaly builds a new temple to replace the captured OCU

The Holy Dormition community of the UOC in the village of Perevaly, Turia region, Volyn region, which suffered from the raiding of the OCU in 2019, received land for the construction of a new church and is asking for financial assistance, the UOJ reports with reference to Archpriest Vitaly Chaban.

According to the priest, by the decision of the council of the Turia United Territorial Community, the UOC community in the village of Torgovishche received a plot of land for the construction of a temple in the Perevaly.

As a result of re-registration in favor of the OCU, the Holy Dormition community lost its status of a legal entity, but de facto the community has been preserved and continues to operate. Having completed all the necessary documents, the parish will soon begin to build a new church.

Currently, the UOC community is gathering in a room leased for the needs of believers by the local authorities. On January 3, 2021, a new abbot was appointed to the faithful. At the same time, the former abbot who transferred to the OCU, although he continues to live in the Perevaly, no longer serves.

The arrival of the UOC in the Perevaly in 2019 became one of the targets of the raider seizure by the OCU asset in the Turia region. The rector, Archpriest Yuri Bilovus, announced the transition to a new church structure. Also, the parish was re-registered in favor of the OCU by the order of the leadership of the Volyn Regional State Administration of June 7, 2019.
