OSCE mission reports do not reflect facts of attacks on the UOC, – Permanent Representative of Russia

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich called on the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine (SMM) to promptly establish all the facts of attacks on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which the mission has not yet reported in its daily reports, RIA Novosti writes.

At an online meeting of the OSCE Post-Council, he pointed to the ongoing attacks on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“In January, there were several incidents. On January 12 and 16, attacks were carried out in Zaporozhye on two priests of the Zaporozhye diocese – Archpriest Volodymyr Gumenyuk and Deacon Georgy Cherpakov. In the first case, the priest was wounded in the temporal region of the head, an operation was required,” Lukashevich.

He added that on January 18 and 21 in Kharkov, the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist and St. Vladimir’s Cathedral were vandalized, doors were broken in them, religious shrines and donations were stolen.

“Unfortunately, information about these events has not yet been reflected in the SMM reports. We hope that the mission will promptly establish all the facts. We urge it to closely monitor what is happening in Ukraine in accordance with its mandate and promptly indicate the relevant information in the reports,” – Russian diplomat concluded.

Recently, during a couple of days in the Ukrainian city Zhaporozhye two UOC priests were attacked by the unkniwn people. The reasons of the attackas are were not identified.
