The Catholic Archdiocese of Cologne is dissuaded from providing a church to the UOC-KP community

The Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church in the German city of Cologne has provided premises for the local community of the UOC-KP for worship, but at the moment Roman Catholics are dissuaded from allowing the Filaret supporters to use the temple. This was reported on the page of the European Deanery of the UOC-KP in facebook.

It is noted that the Dean of Europe Volodymyr Chaika was temporarily appointed by Filaret Denisenko himself, and the German Deanery of the UOC-KP after the departure of the previous leader from the Kyiv Patriarchate was transferred under the leadership of Chaika by a special order dated July 23, 2019.

“Afterwards, the “subversive” activities were launched against us in a similar raider scheme, as in Ukraine. Already in October we were unable to get to a church under strange circumstances. There is nothing special to take away from us, because we do not have our own temples, but the chapel, which we rented since 1998, had to be abandoned. Fortunately, the Roman Catholic Church helped us by allowing us to celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the church of St. Ursula.

But even here, as we were told, there are intensive attempts to influence the Archdiocese of Cologne so that a further use was denied to us, with the justification that it was not Patriarch Filaret who was legalized (restored in his canonical rights) by the Patriarchate of Constantinople, but Met. Epiphany, and thus the entire flock of the patriarch allegedly does not have legitimacy”, the European Deanery of the UOC-KP informs.
