MP calls for “pressure” on colleagues who do not want to vote in favor of banning the UOC

An MP of the European Solidarity faction, Iryna Herashchenko, has called for pressure on her colleagues who refuse to vote in favor of banning the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. About it she reported on her page on Facebook.

“At the conciliatory Council from the “European Solidarity” demanded to put in the hall bills to ban the Moscow church in Ukraine. We are supported by colleagues from “Golos”, groups “Doverie” and “For the Future”, part of “Rodina”. Deputy Speaker A. Kondratyuk also signed a letter to the chairman on the bills. Unfortunately, the “servants” are not ready. Yes, in the faction there are those who realize the importance of the laws, but there is no collective decision”, – said Gerashchenko.

“According to their leadership, the faction has an agreement not to discuss religious issues with deputies, because it violates freedom of conscience. Yes, in Ukraine the Church is separated from the state, and it is exclusively the right of a person – to belong to a confession or to be agnostic. But after all, in the case of the ROC it is not about religion, but about national security”, – convinced the MP.

“Mr. Stefanchuk also promised to sign an appeal to himself, and the leaders of the mono-majority advised us to collect 226 signatures, so that the bills to ban Moscow popes brought to the hall. Maybe let the SBU would give the “servants” some kind of lecture to hear that the rpts is not about freedom of conscience, but about the Kremlin agents”, – stated the Deputy.

We shall remind you that on March 28, 2017 His Beatitude Metropolitan of Kyiv and All Ukraine Onuphrius received the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Iryna Gerashchenko at his residence on the territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, during which the MP thanked the Primate for the peacekeeping mission of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its contribution to the release of Ukrainian servicemen from captivity.
