On December 21, 2021, the Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Archbishop Leonid of Yerevan and Armenia, met with the delegation of the Serbian monastery of Khilandar on Mount Athos, headed by the abbot of the monastery, Archimandrite Methodius (Markovich). The delegation also includes the rector’s assistant, Hieromonk Alexander (Pavlovich), according to the DECR website.

Vladyka Leonid warmly welcomed the guests within the walls of the Department for External Church Relations, telling about the history and tasks of this synodal institution.

For his part, Archimandrite Methodius shared a story about the life of the Athos monastery Khilandar, of which he has been the abbot since 2010.

Continuing the conversation, the parties raised issues of mutual interest.
