Patriarch Bartholomew’s visit to the United States canceled?

The arrival of the head of Phanar to the United States was scheduled for October 2021. However, it may not take place “due to the quarantine measures in force in the country,” writes Pravblog.

In this regard, it is assumed that Patriarch Bartholomew will fly to the United States in 2022 (when the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Greek Archdiocese in America will be celebrated).

It is interesting that the possible cancellation of the mentioned visit of the Istanbul hierarch coincides in time with an attempt to establish more or less constructive relations between Moscow and Washington.

Although it may be that everything rests on a simpler reason. Namely, the scandal with the construction of a church in honor of St. Nicholas in New York. Cuomo lost his position and now the question of the completion of construction may hang in the air for a long time. Which, in turn, will leave an extremely unpleasant imprint on Bartholomew’s visit to the States. It is possible that this is precisely why the Greeks are trying to gain time to look for alternative solutions to the issue with the temple in New York.
