Phanar supporters accused the UOC of “indirect slander” against the Prime Minister of Ukraine because of a visit to Patriarch Elijah

Commenting on the meeting of the UOC delegation with the Primate of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Ilia II, supporters of the Patriarchate of Constantinople stated that the purpose of the meeting was to “slander” Denis Shmygal. Ilias Anastasiadis wrote about this on Facebook.

Citing a press release about the visit of the UOC delegation, which says that the delegation informed the Patriarch of Georgia about the real situation of Orthodoxy in Ukraine, the Phanar supporter concludes: “does it mean that someone previously informed Patriarch Elijah about the unreal situation?”. “And who is this, if not the one who just a few days ago visited the Patriarch, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal?”, Ilias Anastasiadis makes his own hypothetical conclusions.

After which he further continues his “logical exercises” and asks the question: Does it follow from this that the UOC “oppose the Ukrainian state itself and its highest institutional representatives, such as Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal?”

“Because, in fact, indirectly, but clearly, we are told that the Prime Minister of Ukraine presented to the Patriarch of Georgia an“ unreal ”situation in Orthodoxy in Ukraine. And therefore, says a Phanar supporter, a delegation of the UOC quickly gathered in Georgia to “refute, even slander as a liar and deceiver, the prime minister of their country.”

“Once again it becomes clear that the Russian church presence in Ukraine is the “fifth column” against the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of this long-suffering country. Former President Petro Poroshenko has been a target in the past. Now they are attacking the new government of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,” Ilias Anastasiadis concludes.
