On May 14, 2021, “patriarch” Filaret Denisenko will celebrate 55 years of service at the Kiev episcopal serving. As noted on the official website of the UOC-KP, “in the entire, more than a thousand-year history of the Ukrainian Church, this is the longest period of continuous service on the Kyiv throne.”
Then, on May 14, 1966, the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Filaret was appointed Archbishop of Kyiv and Galicia, Patriarchal Exarch of All Ukraine.
On this occasion, on the day of commemoration of Hieromartyr Macarius, Metropolitan of Kyiv, festive services will be held in St. Volodymyr’s Cathedral (Shevchenko Boulevard, 20).
