Archbishop of Lviv Igor Voznyak from the UGCC banned his ex-cleric, priest Ivan Garat, who had already transferred to the UOC-KP (OCU) 10 years ago, qualifying this event as a schism.
“With this letter I am addressing you regarding Fr. Ivan Harat, a priest of our archdiocese, who in 2011 left his de facto service in the Lviv Archdiocese of the UGCC and was enrolled in the clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyivan Patriarchate (now the Orthodox Church of Ukraine) from which we have official confirmation in this regard. Such a case, according to church law, should be considered a schism,” the archbishop writes.
