A new church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is planned to be erected by the community of the Volyn diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the village of Kholopichi, Lokachy district, Volyn region. Fundraising for the construction of the church building was opened by the Favor Charitable Foundation, Pravlife reports.
“The community of the village of Kholopichi does not yet have sponsors and patrons, so the parishioners plan to start building a church on their own. They pray and believe that the Lord will send them those who will help build a new church in honor of St. Nicholas, and the parishioners don’t need to add patience and steadfastness in faith!” – noted the Fund.
Nikolaevsky temple with. Kholopichi was captured by supporters of the schismatic “Orthodox Church of Ukraine” on the third attempt: on Forgiveness Sunday, March 10, 2019, Archpriest John Komarov, along with the parishioners, was no longer able to enter the church where he served for 15 years. At first, the community gathered for services near the captured church, but a week before Easter, the believers managed to purchase an inexpensive tent. In this “tabernacle”, installed in the courtyard of the church house, the community is still praying. And, as the locals say, before there were not so many people in the temple as now in the tent.
The community needs to raise UAH 288,596 for laying and insulating the walls of the new church.
