The “Ukrainian crisis” showed that the “Constantinople model” leads to conflicts between Churches

The “Constantinople model”, according to which Phanar insists on its special status of the primacy of honor and the primacy of power, became the cause of the crisis and schism in World Orthodoxy. This was stated by the UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony (Pakanich), in his report at the conference “Student Science in the Theological School”, writes “Phraza”.

The hierarch stressed that the “Ukrainian crisis” clearly showed that the application of the “Constantinople model” in practice entails serious conflicts between the Local Churches, and it can be overcome only thanks to the dialogue of the Local Churches, but “this consensus should not be the fruit of concessions in the field of doctrine. , but the result of a deep and responsible study of the patristic heritage”.

“We have a huge responsibility. We must make every effort to preserve church unity. In addition, we must clearly formulate the teaching of the Orthodox Church on controversial issues. Let us believe that we will be able to accomplish this difficult task,” concluded Metropolitan Anthony.
