UOC monastic community was created in the Cherkasy eparchy

In the Cherkasy region, another new female monastic community has been established – in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “I am with you and no one is with you,” the website of the Cherkasy eparchy reports.

The community, which consists of several sisters in Christ, settled in the village. Millers of the Chigirinsky region. The sisters lead a solitary prayer life, equip the temple, build monastic cells, and have a small subsidiary farm.

By order of the Administrator of the eparchy, Archbishop Theodosius, the nun Hierothea (Stefur) was appointed the elder sister of the community.

Visiting the sisters and teaching them parting words, Vladyka Theodosius wished them God’s blessings in building up both their inner spiritual life and in arranging communal life. If the Lord blesses this undertaking, and the sisterhood expands and strengthens spiritually, then the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will receive a petition from the Governor of the Cherkasy eparchy, Archbishop Theodosius, for the blessing and establishment of a full-fledged nunnery on the basis of the sisterhood.

Today in the Cherkasy eparchy there are 8 monasteries: 5 for women and 3 for men, in which 218 inhabitants and nuns ascend, of which 141 are tonsured.
