The Synod heard information from the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri), about an unequivocally offensive and false statement spread by a certain group through the media in the last days before the Synod, about the alleged resignation of the Patriarch of Georgia.
The Synod determined: “These people are already accustomed to slandering the Church and its hierarchs. It is clear that their purposeful behavior is aimed at populist dissemination of false information, destabilization of society and discrediting the Church. It was noted that their actions were irresponsible and completely inappropriate for a Christian.
The Synod discussed the actions of metropolitan Peter (Tsaava), who was prohibited from serving. It was said that, unfortunately, he was abusing the term given to him for repentance, and continued through the media destructive actions and slanderous campaign against the Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia and members of the Holy Synod. The Holy Synod decided: to create a commission consisting of members of the Synod, which will study the actions of metropolitan Peter (Tsaava) and present its conclusion at a meeting of the Synod.
