A new community in the vicariate of the Russian parishes of the metropolis of France

On January 10, 2021, under the leading of the priest of the Metropolis of the Church of Constantinople in France, Yannick Provost, a meeting of believers took place in Foulayronnes, at which it was decided to form a new community within the vicariate of the parishes of the Russian tradition, which is under the jurisdiction of the metropolis, informs La Lettre du Vicariat.

The community chose the name of Saints Sophrony of Athos and Saint Mary Magdalene and asked to join her to the vicariate.

Reportedly, the Orthodox service began in 2015 here, when believers gathered for the Jesus Prayer, according to tradition from the St. John the Baptist Monastery (Great Britain), founded by the blessed Archimandrite Sophrony. First, in the house of believers, then in a church near the town of Agen. Since 2019, Liturgies have been served here twice a year.

From now on, services will be held here twice a month at the Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Monbran church.
