“Bishops’ Council” of the UOC-KP appealed to the Minister of Culture of Ukraine

On January 22, 2020, a meeting of the “bishops’ council” of the UOC-KP took place, in which, together with Filaret Denisenko, were present eight “hierarchs” of the Kyiv Patriarchate. They appealed to the head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Volodymyr Borodyansky with a request to cancel order No. 54 of January 30, 2019 and restore the registration of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate. This is stated on the website of the UOC-KP.

The UOC-KP refers to the fact that on June 20, a “Local Council” of the UOC-KP took place, at which a decision was made to resume the existence of the organization, as well as the fact that the signatories of the “Local Council” on December 15, 2018 Filaret Denisenko and Ioasaf Shibaev withdrew their signatures under its decisions.

“In addition, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, like the Primate of the OCU, did not have the legal right to perform such actions without having the original resolution of the so-called Local Council of December 15, 2018. The original is not in Kyiv, but in Istanbul, in the office of the Ecumenical Patriarchate”, – the address says.

Filaret applied to the Phanar with a demand to return the originals of the decisions of the “Local Council” of the UOC-KP dated December 15, 2018.
