A lawyer of the Chernihiv diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Oleksandr Shamko, was detained and forcibly taken to the local military enlistment office right during the provision of legal assistance. This is reported by the official website of the UOC.

The event occurred at the moment when the lawyer was assisting the Chernihiv diocese of the UOC in connection with the illegal blocking of the Holy Trinity and Transfiguration of the Savior Cathedral, as well as the Eletsky nunnery. Such actions are a direct violation of the law of Ukraine on advocacy.

We shall remind you that today we reported that the cathedral churches of Chernihiv city and Eletsky Nunnery of the UOC have been blocked by people in military uniforms since the morning. They were later identified as law enforcers and military officers, and their activity was initiated by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
