Poltava Regional Council Demands the Adoption of a Law on Restricting the Activities of the UOC

On July 28, 2023, during the plenary session of the twenty-fifth extraordinary session of the Poltava Regional Council of the eighth convocation, the deputies adopted an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada on the legislative restriction of the activities of the UOC. It is reported by zmist.pl.ua.

The appeal was supported by 55 deputies. Previous votes were unsuccessful, so the text of the appeal was changed.

“The issue was brought up for discussion by the heads of factions, and everyone who wished to make their proposals in the text. In the appeal, the deputies of the regional council propose to the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a bill on restricting the activities of religious organizations in Ukraine with a center in the aggressor state. It was registered in January of this year, but the draft is still under review,” the statement said.
