The Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Reserve and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine have developed the Procedure for providing access to the Assumption Cathedral and the Refectory Church and their use in worship, religious rites, ceremonies and processions. This was reported in the MCIP on June 26, 2023, reports the Information and Education Department of the UOC.

The procedure defines the organizational issues of holding certain religious rites, including funeral liturgies.

“From now on, access to the Assumption Cathedral / Refectory Church for religious ceremonies will be provided upon application to the reserve from the leadership of religious centers (departments). Appeals from religious centers to hold a memorial service for the dead defenders of Ukraine should be accompanied by appropriate petitions from the heads of the Ministry of Defense / Ministry of Internal Affairs / State Border Service / Security Service of Ukraine,” the message reads.

In order to conduct a ceremony, the Reserve must submit a request for a permit to the ICIP. Then an agreement is concluded with a religious organization to provide access to the Assumption Cathedral or the Refectory Church.
