Primate of the Orthodox Church of America visited the Phanar

From June 7 to 10, 2024, a delegation of the Orthodox Church of America, led by the Primate of the Orthodox Church of America, Archbishop Tikhon of Washington, Metropolitan of All America and Canada, visited the Patriarchate of Constantinople. Representatives of the OCA held a meeting with Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, during which they also raised the issue of Metropolitan Tikhon’s visit to Ukraine. This is reported by the official website of the Orthodox Church of America.

“The delegation was warmly received in the Patriarchate and invited to dinners on June 8 and 9. On June 8, they dined with His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, His Eminence Metropolitan Stephen of Tallinn and All Estonia and other hierarchs of the Patriarchate. His Beatitude and the delegation attended the services at St. George’s Patriarchal Cathedral: the Great Vespers on the evening of June 8 and the Divine Liturgy on the morning of June 9, during which the delegation received the Holy Mysteries. After the Divine Liturgy, a lunch was held with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Metropolitan Stephen and other members of the Holy and Sacred Synod of Constantinople”, – the statement reads.

Earlier it became known that during his recent visit to Ukraine, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of America, Metropolitan Tikhon, commemorated during the service the heads of the Local Churches that recognized the OCU. As we reported, the OCA did not break off Eucharistic communion with any of these Churches.
