The court granted the prosecutor’s petition and extended the measure of restraint for Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy – 24-hour house arrest with wearing an electronic bracelet – for 60 days, until November 4, 2023. The reason for this decision was “a new video message of Metropolitan Feodosiy”, reports Suspilne.
“Today (September 6 – ed.) on the website of the diocese we found an appeal to Zelensky, Cherkasy court and the authorities of Ukraine. I believe that this is pressure on the court, which is engaged in this case, and the authorities. The risks I mentioned before and now are relevant, moreover – some of them have increased, so I ask to extend the measure of restraint”, – said the prosecutor.
The prosecutor also referred to the “gravity” of the crime, and the “main witness” in the case has not yet been found.
“There is a need to extend the preventive measure – 24-hour house arrest. Since the suspect can hide from the pre-trial investigation and interfere with the investigation. This crime is qualified as a grave crime, in addition, now martial law continues. The whereabouts of the main witness is now unknown, so in this regard we ask to extend the preventive measure with the wearing of electronic means of control”, – emphasized the prosecutor.
