The Ukrainian Orthodox Church commented on the statement of the Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko that allegedly the UOC was given three days to leave the territory of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra. This was reported by the Telegram channel Politika Strany.
“Minister of Culture Oleksandr Tkachenko regularly voices absolute lies regarding the actions of the ministry related to the violation of the rights of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra Monastery,” said Metropolitan Kliment (Vecherya), chairman of the Synodal Information and Education Department of the UOC.
The bishop added that “the minister’s statements contradict the actions of the Ministry of Culture. Tkachenko says that an act of acceptance of the transfer of property of the Lavra was signed, and in the next sentence he says that the monastery refused to sign the act of acceptance and transfer of the property of the Lavra. Apparently, Oleksandr Tkachenko signed this act himself with myself”.
“Tkachenko’s statements will have no legal consequences for the monastery,” Metropolitan Kliment stressed.
