The court resumed consideration of the case on the renaming of the UOC

The Kiev District Administrative Court received a case on the claim of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church against the Ministry of Culture. This is reported by “Commander-in-Chief” with reference to the data of the court register.

The UOC does not recognize the order of the Ministry of Culture dated January 25, 2019 No. 37, according to which it was to be renamed the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

Until mid-December 2022, the administrative case was heard by the Kyiv District Administrative Court. On April 12 this year, the case was transferred to the Kiev District Administrative Court. The presiding judge Alena Kushnova decided: the consideration will take place according to the rules of summary proceedings, without notifying the parties and according to the materials available in the case.

In addition to the claim, the Kiev Metropolis filed an application for securing the claim, which was immediately satisfied by the court. The Ministry of Culture failed to appeal this decision of the Kyiv District Administrative Court. Now the Kiev District Administrative Court must start considering the claim of the Church against the Ministry of Culture from the very beginning.
