Kiev City Council voted to terminate lease agreements for places of worship with the UOC

The Kyiv City Council appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine with a request to “take urgent measures” to terminate the lease or use of state-owned religious buildings with the UOC. This is stated on the website of the Kyiv City Council.

Such an appeal was supported today, April 20, at the plenary session of the II session of the Kyiv City Council by 80 deputies.

According to Vadim Storozhuk, a deputy of the Kyiv City Council, “religious communities that link Ukraine with the Russian Orthodox Church are, first of all, the centers of the UOC-MP, which have not yet been registered in accordance with the requirements established by the current legislation of Ukraine.”
