Metropolitan Feodosiy of Cherkasy said that the SSU was going to file a petition with the court for a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest. The bishop said this during a conversation with believers, the press service of the diocese reports.
The hierarch noted that “they want to behead the Cherkasy diocese” in order to “do the things that are happening in Western Ukraine” with the seizure of the temples of the UOC.
“We will ask in court that the measure of restraint is not round-the-clock arrest. If this arrest is at night, I will be able to celebrate Holy Week and Easter services. <…> If at least one small Orthodox church in the Cherkasy region is seized during the period when I am arrested, we will bring this matter to the very end, to all international instances, ”said the bishop.
Metropolitan Feodosiy stressed that the Ukrainian authorities can destroy the country if they do not stop destroying Orthodoxy and oppressing the citizens of Ukraine, considering them third-class people.
“We are peaceful people, and the UOC is the largest denomination in the Cherkasy region. But someone wants to set fire to the fire of religious confrontation inside the country. For our part, we will not allow this to be done. We will do everything to prevent this from happening,” the bishop added.
