Representatives of Ukrainian public organizations call on the Verkhovna Rada to adopt a law banning the UOC (in unity with the MP). This was reported on the website “Spiritual Front of Ukraine”.

This appeal was published by the head of the Space of Freedom movement Taras Shamaida.

“We, representatives of Ukrainian public organizations, call on the Ukrainian parliament to protect the national security of Ukraine and, finally, to ban the subversive activities in our country of the structures of the Russian Orthodox Church created on the orders of Stalin,” the appeal of 15 public organizations says.

The authors of the appeal note that they support the actions of the authorities aimed at exposing and stopping the anti-state activities of the ROC, but consider them insufficient.

Representatives of organizations see a solution in the state’s adoption of draft law No. 8221 “On Ensuring the Strengthening of National Security in the Sphere of Freedom of Conscience and the Activities of Religious Organizations.”

“Introduced by deputies from different factions and unanimously supported by the relevant humanitarian committee of the parliament, this document holistically, in accordance with the norms and practices of European legislation, solves the problem of the ROC in Ukraine,” the authors say.

The document, in particular, provides:

prohibition of the activities in Ukraine of the ROC and religious organizations wholly, indirectly or partially belong to or recognize subordination to it;

early termination of all property transactions concluded between residents of Ukraine and a banned foreign religious organization, as well as with legal entities belonging to it;

the permissibility of using the word “Orthodox” in the names of only religious organizations that are subordinate to the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

“The Russian Orthodox Church and the UOC-MP are the conductors of the ideas of the “Russian world”, the means of Russia’s aggressive policy, the purpose of which is the genocide of the Ukrainian people and the destruction of the Ukrainian state. The leadership and clergy of this church are widely involved in the hybrid war against Ukraine, continue anti-Ukrainian propaganda, approve of Russia’s war of conquest and bless Russian soldiers to kill Ukrainians,” the appeal says.

Activists call on the leadership of the parliament, patriotic deputies of all factions and groups to unblock the consideration of bill No. 8221 and vote for it at the next meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.
